I am currently enjoying a several month long global recce prior to settling someplace outside the UK. You can follow me at Posterous.
On route I am doing a little travel writing: links will be posted here once pieces are published (most likely many months after my visit).
I am also available for media consultancy here.
You can download my resume as a PDF here. And view my LinkedIn here.
From January 2006 to December 2009, I was Arts & Entertainment editor at Times Online, the website of The Times and Sunday Times.
Unsurprisingly, I dig the arts big time: theatre, opera, dance, classical, rock, pop and comedy. Most of all I dig the movies and the art. Give me the keys to Kahlo’s La Casa Azul or Dali’s Portlligat in Cadaqués and I’ll die a happy man.
While at The Times, I interviewed Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller, and rubbed shoulders with Mike Tyson and Diego Maradona in Cannes. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.
As a younger hack, I honed my skills at the sharp end on Britain’s biggest selling quality Sunday newspaper, interviewing artist Damien Hirst, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins and world wide web inventor Tim Berners-Lee.
Two years on a consumer technology section makes me a zealous ambassador for the best of high tech. Six months on the Sydney Morning Herald’s SMH.com.au was a rapid fire introduction to rolling 24/7 news. I have a seasoned pro’s understanding of the web.
A year as Web editor for Friends of the Earth gave many insights into the environmental concerns increasingly shaping our world.
I am hugely enthused by the rapidly evolving technologies continuously redefining the ways we find, consume and share news. As journalists we are lucky enough to be living during an epochal moment in the transfer of printed news from paper to screen. I’m thrilled to be bang in the middle of the shakedown.
My journalistic interests encompass the arts in their widest sense, scientific discovery, politics, travel and history in all its forms. I like dishing dirt too.
I’m passionate about news sources and their role as conduits between facts and understanding. To me, nothing is more thrilling than digging up something important and spreading the word.
