Hello! Welcome to my website. Here you’ll find updates on my journalism, cultural discoveries, travels and other movements.
On December 31, 2009 my partner Rachelle and I left the UK on a global recce, first stop Mumbai. We visited India, Sri Lanka, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru and Brazil.
After long and careful deliberation, we have settled in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia.
I am a proud Scot, born in Edinburgh in August 1974. I’ve lived in England on and off for most of the last 18 years, initially in Manchester, where I read History of Art and spent too many hours on the dancefloor of The Haçienda. After spells in Clapham and Brixton, I most recently lived in Balham – “Gateway to the South” – in leafy south London.
I have worked as a journalist since graduation, most recently on the Arts Desk of The Times in London. I am blessed to have found a vocation that rewards my natural, insatiable curiosity.
My other interests include nature, travel, culture, astronomy, ornithology, nephology, rare books, fine wine and Manchester City FC.
